Sanaria CEO Hoffman Most Cited Author in the World
Essential Science Indicators has reported that Dr. Stephen L. Hoffman, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Sanaria Inc., is the most cited author in the world for scientific papers on malaria published between 1995 and 2005. Hoffman was senior author (three) and co-author (one) on four of the five most cited scientific papers during this period. These four papers included publications on the genomics of the malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum, the genomics of the mosquito, Anopheles gambiae, which transmits most malaria in Africa, and development of a human malaria vaccine. “It is truly an honor to receive such recognition for my colleagues and me. I hope that at Sanaria I have been able to bring the knowledge, experience, and understanding that led to these publications to the process of developing and deploying a vaccine that will prevent the half a billion illnesses and 1-3 million deaths caused by malaria every year,” said Dr. Hoffman.
