Employee of the Month: Dr. Preston Church

The Sanaria employee of the month for April 2020 is Dr. Preston Church.  Dr. Church is a member of the clinical team.  As the deputy Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Church is responsible for providing support to all Sanaria clinical trial activities, particularly those centered on pre-trial preparation, trial conduct, SAE evaluation and reporting, data management, data analysis and creation of final reports and manuscripts. In 2020, the role has expanded to include managing the employee COVID-19 screening and prevention program.

Since the onset of the COVID crisis, Dr. Church has risen to the challenge of safeguarding Sanaria and Protein Potential personnel with customary expertise, wisdom, humor and hard work. His interventions and trainings and daily communications have strongly supported keeping our companies productive and moving forward. Dr. Church has stayed on top of the information available and made sure that Sanaria and Protein Potential are continually informed about risks and plans to mitigate those risks. His daily emails have kept everyone up to speed in a constantly changing situation, and he has brought to Sanaria a sense of calm authority, a welcome carry-over from his days running infection control in his previous life.  The knowledge he has imparted to all of us regarding how to protect ourselves, our colleagues and our families has supported both our professional and personal lives. We are all grateful for his knowledge, for his pointing out where the data are scarce, and for his approachability (at least up to a 6 ft distance). We cannot thank Dr. Church enough for the huge amount of work he has put into Sanaria’s and Protein Potential’s ability to work safely and to guide us through this difficult situation.

Dr. Church attended Medical School and Internal Medicine Residency at Emory, Infectious Diseases at the National Naval Medical Center (now named Walter Reed National Medical Center). Dr. Church began at Sanaria in April 2018.
