USPTO Awards Sanaria with the 2020 Patents for Humanity Award
On August 26th, 2020, Sanaria Inc. was awarded with the prestigious Patents for Humanity Award from the USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office) for developing a whole parasite vaccine for malaria. This award recognizes the importance of Sanaria’s intellectual property, covering the innovations that have developed a unique family of vaccines, designed to prevent and eventually eliminate malaria.
Patents for Humanity is a global competition open to any patent owners, patent applicants, or patent licensees hosted by the USPTO. Submissions are evaluated on the effectiveness of their technology to address humanitarian issues, the contributions made by applicants to increase use of their technology among the impoverished, and the impact those contributions have made to improve lives.
Malaria infects over 200 million and kills around 500,000 people every single year. This terrible disease disproportionally affects some of the most impoverished and vulnerable populations. Sanaria Inc. is devoted to fighting and developing vaccines that prevent all human malaria.
Sanaria Inc. will be recognized in a virtual award ceremony on September 17th, hosted by the USPTO. Scheduled speakers include U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley, U.S. Senator Patrick Leahy, U.S. Representative Martha Roby as well as Director Iancu.
