Sanaria and Collaborators have Strong Presence at ASTMH 2021
Sanaria and Collaborators at the
Annual Meeting of the ASTMH November 2021
Sanaria is pleased and proud to have a strong presence at the annual meeting of the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene which is being held as a virtual event. We are showcasing our laboratory-based research and development along with data from our most recent clinical trials in a range of oral and poster presentations by Sanaria staff and our wonderful collaborators.
Some highlights are:
- Unprecedented findings from Mali, which demonstrate protection against malaria for 2 years (presentation 422 by Healey et al., in session 422, Thursday 13:35) and significant protection against malaria in women who became pregnant (Diawara et al., in session 52, Friday 11:05).
- Growing evidence that pretreatment with antimalarials to remove blood stage parasites before vaccination can make a huge different to efficacy of PfSPZ vaccines (Sousa et al. poster 297 and Billingsley et al., poster 298 on Thursday)
- The research and development behind next generation PfSPZ vaccines (Kim Lee Sim, symposium session 33 , Thursday 15:10)
- Major developments in the production of billions of malaria sporozoites in vitro (poster 295, Eappen et al. on Thursday).
- Breakthrough cryopreservation of Anopheles eggs allowing preservation of anopheline species, strains and lines without colony maintenance (Eric James, session 91, Saturday 08:50)
- Progress in the development of an orally administered COVID-19 vaccine (Kim Lee Sim, Session 51, Friday 11:05)
