Sanaria Virtually Hosts National Student Leadership Conference

Each year, Sanaria has hosted the brightest and best high school students from across the country participating in the National Student Leadership Conference.  In 2020, the usual on-site visit which included hands on demonstrations and tours of the manufacturing facility had to be canceled, and with the relaxation of COVID restrictions we had hoped that the visit could take place in June 2021, but that was not to be.  Instead, Dr. Peter Billingsley talked to the students on “Developing a malaria vaccine: pitfalls and successes” in two separate sessions on 15 and 28 June 2021.  The students showed their leadership qualities and enthusiasm with a stream of interesting and challenging questions throughout each session, keeping Dr. Billingsley on his toes and leaving everyone with a sense of great engagement.  Sanaria looks forward to welcoming the next cadre of future scientists to a real visit next year.  In the meantime, big thanks to the students for such great participation and to Ms. Gita Golenka for making sure it all happened.
