Employee of the Month: Dimitri Koutzoumis
The Sanaria employee of the month for August 2022 is Dimitri Koutzoumis. Dimitri is a member of the Vaccine Stabilization and Logistics team, responsible for overseeing the vialing, cryopreservation, and inventory of research samples of malaria sporozoites and oversees the performance of the hepatocyte infiltration assays of sporozoites. He also assists in the logistics of research shipments, research of cryopreserving mosquito eggs, development of oral-COVID vaccine, and directs microscopy efforts for in vitro sporozoite development. Dimitri was nominated for employee of the month for his work and support of multiple teams including the Foam Drying effort for OraCOV as well as the leading inventory of our cryobanks. Dimitri is always friendly, respectful, and have a great sense of humor that lights up everyone’s day.
Dimitri attended the University of Maryland for his B.S. in Biochemistry and then received his Ph.D. in Immunology from the University of Florida. Dimitri began at Sanaria in July 2021.
